The Port of Tórshavn welcomes two cruise ships on August 14th 2026
Early on Friday morning, August 14th, the luxury cruise ship La Lapérouse will arrive in Tórshavn on its second visit to the Faroe Islands this year, carrying 154 guests on board. At 11:30, Norwegian Star will arrive, whichis it the largest cruise ship to visit the Port of Tórshavn this year.
Norwegian Star has 2,267 passengers on board, most of whom are American. The ship is 294 metres long and has a crew of 900. It will remain in port until 20:30, giving the passengers plenty of time to experience Tórshavn and other destinations around the islands.
The Port of Tórshavn works closely with Visit Tórshavn to welcome cruise passengers and help them make the most of their visit.
Visit Tórshavn provides information staff for all cruise visits. For smaller ships, an information desk is open at the Bus Terminal, while the so-called Ask Me staff can be seen around the city when larger cruise ships visit.
The Ask Me staff are available to answer questions, provide directions and offer information about experiences and activities in Tórshavn. At the same time, they play an important role in helping to manage the flow of visitors in the city and ensuring a positive experience for both visitors and local residents.
The cooperation between the Port of Tórshavn and Visit Tórshavn is also important for local businesses and the commercial sector. By guiding visitors and showing them what the city has to offer, the initiative encourages cruise passengers to explore the city and make use of the services available, including shops, restaurants, cafés, excursions and other experiences.
Feedback from local businesses has been positive since the Ask Me staff became an established part of welcoming larger cruise ships.
