The Port of Tórshavn welcomes the first cruise call of the season
Yesterday, Tuesday 5th of May, the first cruise ship of the year called at the Port of Tórshavn. The vessel is Ocean Explorer, operated by Quark Expeditions.
There were approximately 90 passengers on board, travelling with this specially equipped expedition vessel, known for its voyages in Arctic regions.
This is the first time Ocean Explorer has called at the Port of Tórshavn, and as is customary for a maiden visit, a plaque exchange took place on board. The photo shows Alina Jespersen from Faroe Ship Agency, Hanus Mikkelsen, CEO of the Port of Tórshavn, with Juraj Zekan, Captain of Ocean Explorer.
This call also marks the beginning of what is expected to be a busy cruise season for the Port of Tórshavn. A total of 53 cruise ships are scheduled to visit in 2026, confirming the city’s continued appeal as a destination in the North Atlantic. The final cruise ship of the season is expected to depart on 30th of September.
The Port of Tórshavn welcomes the visit and wishes both crew and passengers a pleasant onward journey.
