The Final Cruise Call of the Year

The final cruise ship to visit the Port of Tórshavn this year will arrive on Monday evening, 28th of September. M/S Spitsbergen, operated by Hurtigruten, will berth at 20:30 and remain in port until 12:00 on Tuesday, 29th of September.

The visit is somewhat special. Although Spitsbergen was scheduled to be the final cruise ship of the year for some time, the visit was cancelled a week ago due to adverse weather conditions around Iceland. However, the ship has now changed its itinerary, and Spitsbergen will therefore bring the 2026 cruise season to a close – just as originally planned.

Spitsbergen is an expedition ship specially designed for voyages in Arctic regions. The ship is 100 metres long and carries 132 guests. Spitsbergen has visited the Faroe Islands and Tórshavn several times before and has also scheduled calls in the years ahead.

Hurtigruten’s ships are among the first cruise ships to visit Tórshavn each year, and they also often bring the cruise season to a close in late September.

We are very pleased that M/S Spitsbergen has nevertheless chosen to include the Faroe Islands in its revised itinerary, allowing the ship to bring the cruise season at the Port of Tórshavn to a close.
